I wanted to create a cinematic to display some weapon and explosion FX so I decided to start learning Chaos FX in Unreal.
So far, I have taken a Quixel asset and fractured the mesh, then applied the Chaos force to the mesh to make the pieces push outward like an explosion. Then, I got a Niagara UV Smoke system attached to the trailing data from the Chaos FX to get some smoke trails going on.
Next, I plan to upgrade this process to work with Niagara Fluids so I can get a much better smoke sim working.
Finally, I'll have to make the actual explosion and weapon FX to go with it. I'll be updating this post as I go. Whenever it is finished I'll upload a fully rendered cinematic.
