I created this Health Regeneration FX with inspiration from Sekiro.
The first step was to create the sprite burst that comes from the player, then I had to create the emblem that shows, next I made the long beams of light combined with another particle emitter to get the continuous regeneration effect. Once that was complete, I took a character and animation from Mixamo.com, imported it into a Level used for other Sekiro inspired FX, and then created an animation composite to attach my FX to the character. Next, I setup the cameras and rendered the scene. Finally, I compiled the PNGs and did color grading in Premiere Pro.

UPDATE
A colleague, Robert Jones, had some suggestions for the FX that inspired me to create variants.
I made two new versions of the FX that focus more on centrilization of the body and it's health regeneration. I think these FX compliment the idea Robert spoke of. Now, instead of the FX simply being around the person, it envelopes them completely. This portrays the idea the it is affecting their overall physical being more accurately.
The first variant was nice, and I did like it, but I wanted something a bit more subtle while still maintaining the powerful, overwhelming physical boost the health item would provide the player. Therefore, I came up with the second variant, a more subtle, yet eye catching effect to add to the player experience.
However, I believe a third variant can be made to improve upon this process even more. The second variant is potentially delving a bit too much into power up style territory, rather than health regeneration. I think I should give a bit of color back to the FX, allowing for a brighter, but still subtle, glow that will polish the effect nicely.
