This is the first in a series of VFX I am creating to cater specifically toward the type of FX you'd see in The Witcher universe. I am going to reiterate this house fire in several ways to prove my knowledge of multiple programs and methods. Next, I plan to use Embergen to create a looping VDB so it looks like a simulation but saves processing power/memory. Lastly, I'll recreate the effect with only real-time particle FX using flipbooks I create in Embergen. The final being the most efficient, of course.
I created this house fire using a model from Fab.com, then I applied a Niagara Fluid simulation to the mesh. The roof is made from tin, which wouldn't really catch on fire, so I vertex painted the house to exclude the roof from the simulation. After making tweaks to the fire simulation, I finally added another particle emitter to the particle system that also emits from the house mesh for the embers. (P.S. I am aware the domain is too tall in the Niagara Fluid sim, and I need to fix it lol)
